Ethical Contemporary Jewelry, Handmade in Mexico
Hello. I’m Fernanda Ibarrola, the creator and artisan behind Dikua, a female-founded venture born from my love for design, handmade craftsmanship, noble materials, and deep-rooted traditions. The name Dikua comes from the Purépecha word Tirhindikua (meaning earring, pendant, or hoop), a tribute to my family's origins in the artisan-rich lands of Michoacán and Oaxaca and to the cultural heritage that inspires each piece.
The Origin: More Than Jewelry, a Legacy
Dikua bridges the ancestral and the contemporary. Every design is a dialogue between traditional techniques—like lost-wax casting, which I practice in collaboration with specialized workshops—and a modern vision. I work piece by piece, in limited editions or one-of-a-kind designs, because I believe in the beauty of the irreplicable.
Our Materials and Process: Ethics in Every Detail
In my workshop, I prioritize:
✔ Safe, non-toxic artisanal processes (no harsh chemicals).
✔ Recycled or eco-friendly materials (reclaimed silver, responsibly sourced stones, sustainable alternatives).
✔ Local and handmade production: I craft each piece myself, partnering with expert jewelers for delicate settings.
✔ Zero mass production: Every creation carries my personal touch and hours of dedication.
This isn’t just jewelry—it’s slow living transformed into an object, a stand against fast consumption.
Commitment to Mexican Craftsmanship
As a female entrepreneur, I’m proud to be part of the wave of contemporary Mexican design that values handmade artistry and fairness. Working with Mexican hands—from metalworkers to packaging artisans—is an act of cultural preservation and circular economy.
